Step Back and Reset Your Priorities

I took this photo a couple of months ago on Guemes Island. I happened to look down and saw this rock, in the midst of sand, and many other rocks. To me, this photo reminds me to have focus and clarity and to tune out the noise, especially where there is so much burnout and uncertainty.

Feeling productive, creative, and focused is difficult when you are not clear on what’s truly important, and are doing “tasks” that are driven by a false sense of urgency, either created by yourself or others. Knowing and prioritizing your “big rocks” (including self-care being to include meditation, time in nature, exercise, writing, and visualization), bring clarity to the chaos, just as the rock I noticed on the beach.

When I am feeling off balance, I ask myself these questions:

• Do I feel burned out, overwhelmed, and confused about what’s truly important?
• Is the quality of my work suffering?
• Am I afraid to set boundaries and ask for what I need?
• Do I find myself resenting others because I am overwhelmed?

If I have answered yes to any of these questions, it is time to take a step back and reset our priorities. Together we can do this and I can help you get there.
